Vix shrugged. "I guess it really couldn't hurt to try, now could it?" He was willing to go to her party, even if it still didn't seem to be all that enjoyable. He figured he'd just stay quiet, keeping him out of the conversation and when he was asked a question he'd give a generic answer and avert their attention elsewhere. And Kylie probably wouldn't even notice. She'd be all wrapped up in her friends she hadn't seen in so long. So for Vix, her "low-key" parties would be tolerable, and he would go for the sake of keeping her pretty little smile on her face. "Do you know when winter break even is? What day does it start on? It's too far away for me to have even thought about yet, I can hardly believe I've already got plans." He was wondering what other breaks or school events that he had yet to think of, but Kylie seemed to already have everything planned out.

Kylie's smile grew wide again, now that she'd seemed to convince Vix that the party was a good idea. "You'll love it. I think you'll like my friends, and I bet they'll like you, too!" she said happily. Not only did Kylie love making friends; she also loved making various friends and then getting them to be friends with each other.
"Hmmm, when is winter break?" she wondered allowed. Suddenly she remembered something. "Oh, silly me; I've got it written down in my day planner. Hold on..." Picking up her bag that lay on the ground next to her feet, Kylie took out a hot pink notebook with pictures of ladybugs in all different colors on the cover. She flipped it open and started rifling through the pages.
"Okay, well, classes start up August 23rd... then Homecoming is sometime in September... for Thanksgiving we get out early the day before and come back the next Tuesday... and then... ah, here we are, Winter Break. It looks like it starts on the 16th of December, when we get out early, see?" she said, spinning the notebook around to face Vix and placing her finger on the date she'd penciled in earlier when she'd first arrived at the school.

"I hope so... " Vix added, her friends hating him wouldn't be a good thing.
Vix nodded when she said when Winter Break was, looking at the notebook. "Okay, got it." She'd mentioned Homecoming. Vix wondered what "Homecoming" was. It had never been discussed at the home. He wanted to ask, but he didn't want to look like an idiot. He thought for a moment, but his curiosity got the best of him. "Homecoming?" He asked, "What is that? Is it like... a dance or something?" He questioned, raising up one eyebrow and tilting his head, showing he wanted to know. He was interested in it, but sort of afraid. Oh how Vix dreaded anything that had to do with a dance. He'd been invited to one before, at one of the homes. Turns out the girls were seeing who could bring the biggest freak, and his date won.

"What's Homecoming?" Kylie repeated, trying to figure out how to phrase her answer.
"Well...Homecoming's sort of like a big celebration of the school, really. There's a Homecoming week, and the school does various school-spirit stuff that week, and then there's a football game, and then yeah, there's a dance. Well, at least, it was that way at my old school. I guess I don't really know how we'll have the Homecoming stuff here at Galaxium. I'm sure we'll have all that school-spirit crap, since pretty much every school does it, but I don't know about the football game. I'm not sure a winged-kids school could play football against a regular team. Maybe they have more than one team here and they play against each other... but in any case, there's always a dance. I've never heard of a school that didn't have a Homecoming dance."
She looked down at the table, drumming her fingernails on it lightly. All of a sudden, she let out a soft laugh. "I've only gone to one Homecoming dance. I'd given an end-of-summer party earlier that year, and one girl was mad she didn't get an invitation. She dumped the punch bowl on top of my head and got in really big trouble. It was actually kind of funny."

"Wonderful," Vix sighed. "Remind me to strap my wings down and jump off a building the week before, either that or I'll just have the flu that week." He looked down, and frowned at her story about the only homecoming dance she'd been to. "If it makes you feel better, the only dance I've ever been to was at a group home. The girl who asked me only asked me because they were all trying to see who could bring the biggest freak as a date and she won. The worst part was I'd had a crush on her for like two years before and I got all excited and stuff when she asked me, and I ended up feeling like a complete idiot for thinking someone like her would like me. Although that probably explains why I'm usually not very hopeful in any situation..."

Kylie raised an eyebrow. "Not a dancing person, huh?" she asked jokingly, before he went on to his story about the dance that he had attended. Sorrow filled her eyes as he told his story, and she reached for his hand across the table. Her hand was quite a bit smaller than Vixen's, but it was the thought that counted.
"Ohhh, I'm sorry..." she said, patting the top of his hand. "That was really rotten of her, especially if you'd had a crush on her. No wonder you don't like dances. Wow... my experience wasn't really that bad. I thought it was funny, and the only reason I didn't go to the dance the next year was because I really did have the flu." She fell silent now, unsure of what to say to him. Of course, Kylie didn't really like silence, so she broke it soon after.
"I don't think I ever asked what grade you're going into next year...?" she asked, realizing there was yet another fundamental thing about Vixen that she didn't know.

Vix shrugged, wiping all emotion from his eyes and face. "It's fine, I'm over it now. Doesn't matter anyway." He tried not to pull away when she touched his hand, it was a natural reaction for him. He hated being touching, but something about hers was nicer... He liked it in a way. He kept himself from showing it though, he glanced up at her. "I'll be a senior in the fall. Only because the school checked my age and not my previous education. Although they probably couldn't have tracked it if they wanted to. I doubt I've ever gotten taught anything properly. Everything I know I learned from self research, and from asking questions..." He trailed off momentarily. "I'm pretty curious when I'm interested in something, but a lot of the time I keep my mouth shut so I don't look stupid."

Kylie gently pulled her hand away from Vixen's as he told her what grade he would be in the following year, and the circumstances that had allowed him to be in that grade in the first place. She folded her hands in front of her, nodding as she listened.
"Ah, senior year, huh? That ought to be fun, then. I wonder how many of your classmates really will be prepared for their senior year, though. It seems that a lot of kids haven't had a very good educational background here. A lot of them seem to have been either poorly homeschooled, or went to formal schools and just hardly ever went to class because they were so afraid of their classmates. I really did kind of luck out in that aspect."
She laughed quietly when he said that he kept his mouth shut a lot of the time when he thought asking questions would make him sound stupid.
"'A true sign of an intelligent person is one who asks many questions.' I heard that somewhere, and I think it's pretty true," Kylie mused.

"I hope so..." He said, to her comment about senior year hopefully being fun. He didn't seem to have many classmates at all yet, let alone those who were prepared. He smirked, laughing at himself under his breath. "Well I think I ask enough questions already, don't I?" He chuckled. He thought about it, realizing how many questions he really did ask, when he had the opportunity to at least. He didn't talk to people enough to be able to ask them questions. It made him want to make more friends, and get out more, but the thought of that set his mind back to other things. How much he detested loud noise, or being with a large amount of people. It made him feel like they were breathing up all the air before he could get any. He always felt closed in as it is, let alone when he is in a small space with people in it.

Kylie shook her head, still smiling. "No, of course not! You can never ask too many questions!" she said cheerfully. "How else are you going to find out about stuff if you don't ask questions? If no one asked any questions, then no one would know anything and we'd all just sit around being idiots all the time and no one would know any different, which seems pretty suckish if you ask me."
Kylie glanced at the clock on the wall. Amazingly, they had been sitting there for over an hour now, and the cafeteria was deserted.
"Oh, gosh. We probably ought to go, I bet they wanna clean the tables..." she mumbled. An idea suddenly came in to her head. "Hey! You wanna come to my dorm room and meet Kink? She loves meeting new people!"

Vix chuckled. "I guess questions are necessary." His glance followed hers to the clock, and he instantly checked his watch to see if it was correct. "Yeah, they've probably been waiting for us to leave." Then she invited him to her room, and he didn't know what to say. The best he could manage to do was shrug. "Why not?" He asked as he got up and threw away his apple and tucked his water bottle into his pocket. He walked out of the cafeteria swiftly, not paying much attention to what was around, but more on his feet. He was pretty aware of his surrounds, even if he wasn't paying attention to them. He hoped he wasn't walking too fast for Kylie to keep up. He had a tendency of doing that with people because of his long legs.

Kylie dumped the remains of her salad, keeping her green tea bottle with her. By the time she'd finished doing that, Vixen was already walking quickly out of the cafeteria, and Kylie had to run to catch up to him.
"Hey, Vix?" she asked, double-timing it to keep up with the boy. "Would you mind slowing down a bit? I'm quite a bit shorter than you, you know. Can't quite keep up." She laughed. "Besides, how do you expect to get in to my dorm room if you get there way ahead of me?"
Once he'd slowed down, Kylie walked beside the boy, not sure what to say. Finally, she thought of something as they drew close to her room.
"You know, I really do appreciate you coming to see Kink. I think she gets lonely some times, and even though I try to play with her as much as I can, I think it's good for her to interact with other people. So...thanks," she said as they stopped in front of the room. Since they were stopped, Kylie gave him a hug to go with the thanks, a thing she usually did. The girl's head barely even came up to Vixen's chest.

Vix nodded and slowed down, making sure he didn't move too fast for her. He walked fast normally, and his height didn't help. He had to remind himself to stay slow over and over again just for Kylie to stay next to him. He felt like he was taking baby steps, but it didn't matter, he'd rather be next to her walking slow than walking normally and being 50 feet ahead of her. "You're welcome" he said after she thanked him for visiting her snake. He stiffened when she hugged him in shock. But he quickly relaxed and hugged her back lightly. It wouldn't have been so awkward had she have been a little taller and him a little shorter. He smiled down at her and followed her into her dorm, looking for where her snake, Kink, was at in her dorm room.

Kylie noticed that Vix stiffened when she hugged him, and she wondered why.
"Do you not like hugs?" she asked as she pushed the door open. Not really waiting for his answer, since she figured he would answer her while they were in the room, she called out, "Oh Kinkster! I'm ho-ome!" She giggled to herself as she flounced over to her snake's cage and wondered, not for the first time, how her new roommates would react to her pet. She knew that she was supposed to be getting some roommates soon, but they didn't appear to be at the school yet, which was fine by her.
"Aw, my poor darling, you don't like being in there very much, do you?" she cooed to the snake as she lifted her carefully out of cage and slightly over her head, letting the snake's body rest more on her shoulders. It was the only way the small girl could reasonably carry the heavy snake. "It's okay now, though. Kylie's gotcha, and you don't have to go back inside till we go to sleep. I brought someone to see you!" She carried Kink over to where Vixen waited.
"Kink, this is Vixen. Vixen, meet Kink!" she announced happily, stroking the snake's scaly head.

Vix shook his head. "No, you just surprised me. I'm not exactly found of hugs but I don't dislike them." He watched as Kylie went to get Kink, and he saw that she didn't have any room mates yet as he glanced around. He figured she'd have some soon, and he probably would too. Soon enough the school would be filling up and he'd have to try to act normal for his room mates and hope they don't kill Monti or Phang. He smiled when Kylie brought Kink over and he reached out to touch Kink. "Are you a friendly baby?" He asked as he stroked the top of it's head softly with the back of his hand. He chuckled, as Kink licked at the air, smelling him.
