Alex let out a sigh and slumped back in her chair. With a student soon to be on her way to the hospital, the last thing Alex wanted to be doing was trying to convince a teacher to take a lesser punishment than he thought he ought to get. Finally she leaned forward across the desk, eyes steely. "Look, Professor," she said, a little impatiently, "I take my job very, very seriously. Do you honestly think I would keep someone around here who I thought would be an endangerment to my students? If anything, the PE teacher shouldn't have had another teacher out there helping her without at least notifying me first. I'll have to have a talk with her when I get back... but I digress. In any case, the answer is, I wouldn't. If I thought you were an endangerment to my students, you would be out of here before you could even ask why." She slumped back in her seat. "I know you may not believe that you can do this right now, but I see potential. Which is why I would like to keep you around." ~*~ Kylie wasn't sure what to say, but luckily the nurse answered for her. "Oh, that's quite alright, hun. I can carry her. I'm stronger than I look, and she doesn't look like she'd weigh much at all, in any case." The nurse scooped up an embarrassed-looking Kylie and carried her out the door, occasionally looking back to make sure the boy was still following. She placed the girl in a large blue van with "Galaxium" painted on the side, and the group drove off to the hospital. Once there, Kylie was put in a wheelchair and taken through the back of the hospital. She was a bit confused as to why they were entering there, but she soon found out. The girl's mouth fell open in amazement as she saw that every nurse, doctor, and even the janitors in that section of the hospital had wings! The movement hurt a little, but Kylie didn't care. "Where are we?" she asked in wonder. The new nurse who'd taken her from the school nurse smiled at her. "The winged section of the hospital, of course. The "Normals" don't like to have to see that we're here, so a whole section was made just for us!" The nurse announced. She'd told Vixen that he could come along, since the girl didn't seem to have any family with her. Kylie was taken into a quiet room with dimmer lights than the rest of the hospital. "Okay, I'll notify the doctor to let him know you're here," the nurse told her. "He'll be right in." The door made a soft clicking noise as the nurse left. Kylie turned to Vixen. "Did you know they had a special 'winged' section of the hospital?" she asked. [Sorry if it's hard to reply to, Klowd. I don't know how much of this hospital bit we should have in here ]

Vix nodded, and followed the nurse out. He stayed silent on the trip there, and awkwardly trailed behind. He wasn't too taken aback by the winged section of the hospital, but shook his head when Kylie asked him about it. "I didn't have a clue. But it doesn't surprise me, if they're willing to build a school for us, I don't see why the hospital wouldn't have a section for us. " He looked down, picking at a hole in his jeans. When he said "us" he didn't know what he really meant. "Freaks" was essentially the first word that came to mind, but he didn't want that to be what he had meant. He shook the thought away and chewed on his lip, rethinking it for himself. He scratched his arm and then returned to picking at his jeans, silence filling the room.

K:anode cringed. He could tell he was wearing on her patience. He looked a little surprised at her reply. Not only did she trust him -someone who just got a kid sent to hospital in his first week on the job... but also a guy. He had vibes from her from the start that she didn't like guys, and yet she seemed to trust him. He should be grateful of that. Surely if she had the opportunity to fire him, she would have gone for it.
"Okay if you put it like that... Thank-you Ms. Flynn."K:anode replied eventually, though still looking utterly guilt ridden. "Sorry about that..."He added, feeling lame for acting... childish? "Uhm, should I go to the hospital... or not?"He added. It'd be a good time to apologize to Kylie, but then she might not want to be seeing him, and the headmistress might rather he wasn't there too. He didn't want to be intruding on people.

Alex nodded. Finally, they were getting somewhere with this! K:anode still looked like he felt guilty, but at least he wasn't still offering to quit on her.
"It's really not a problem, Professor. And, like I said, apology is already accepted," she said, mistaking what his apology was actually for. "You can come to the hospital, or you can stay here and apologize to Miss Jenson when she returns. In either case, you'd better decide quickly. You can ride with me if you're coming to the hospital, but I'll be leaving as soon as I get a hold of Kierra's babysitter and make sure she can watch her while I'm gone." With that, the headmistress pulled out her cell phone and sent a text message to the babysitter, quickly receiving one back confirming. She looked up at K:anode.
"So?" she asked, "You coming or what?"
~*~
Kylie didn't say anything for a while, then continued, "Well, I think it's pretty nice of them. Although I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want a winged doctor. I think it'd be kind of like having an angel for a doctor. Don't you think so?" she asked. She sagged down in her wheelchair and sighed. "Well, I guess then there's more angel-doctors for us, then!"
The door opened, and a tall, dark-skinned doctor with bright white angel wings stepped inside the room.
"So... you're Kylie Jenson, and you got hit in the face with a baseball and blacked out while flying... you've sustained a concussion from your injuries and you're here for me to check how severe it is. Correct?" he asked, glancing over his clipboard at the girl. Kylie nodded as he looked her over. Other than her face, she appeared to be uninjured, but he had to ask to make sure. "Did someone catch you?"

Vix nodded, chuckling. "Yep, we get all the angel doctors. " He smiled at Kylie, and glanced over at the doctor when he walked in. Kylie was right, he looked like an angel. He chuckled under his breath. She really did have an angel doctor. He shot her a glance, then gestured to tehd octor with the his head, tilting it to the side slightly. He didn't think she noticed, since he attention wa son the doctor, but he hadn't even realized the doctor was talking. He was far too lost in his own thoughts, when he actually averted his attention to the doctor all her heard was "catch you?" and the best Vix could do was assume what he'd said. "I caught her." He said, doubting Kylie had remembered being hit, let alone falling or being caught. And then he realized he hadn't even told her yet.

"Uh, Thanks for the offer."K:anode replied quickly. It was so clear to see her patience was gone. He got to his feet quickly, some how nearly tripping over the flat surface of the ground, just about catching himself, in the hurry. There was a reason he didn't do things at a quick pace, somewhere along the line his mind and body wouldn't be on the same page and he got clumsy. He started out of the room (presumably following her). He was still quiet and struggled to keep up with her. He was all the more cautious of tripping over something now. He half dreaded the journey there, it'd be awkward. So would being there... Ugh. [lame, not quite to min, but I need to get going now ]

Alex nodded and led the way out the door. The two finally got to Alex's car, and she drove off to the hospital. She didn't really say much to K:anode; all the headmistress could think about was how weird it was for her to actually trust this man. She supposed it was probably because he was both very young and was short, which made him seem almost like a kid. Well, that, and the bright red hair.
They quickly arrived at the hospital, and headed to the back, where the winged division was located. Alex inquired at the desk, and was told that they could find Kylie in room 203.
~*~
Kylie saw Vixen's gesture, and couldn't help but burst out laughing. The doctor gave her a confused look, to which she just shrugged.
"It's sort of a private joke," she explained. The doctor still looked confused, but nodded anyway.
"You did?" Kylie asked Vixen as he said that he had caught her when she'd fallen. It made sense, she supposed, but for some reason she hadn't thought of that. "Thanks!" The doctor just nodded and scribbled down some more notes on his clipboard.
"Okay, Kylie, I'm going to do a couple of tests, and we'll see how bad you concussion really is, okay?" he said. Kylie nodded, and the doctor did his tests, including a few in which the two had to leave the room for various scans. When he was finished, he said, "Alright then, Kylie. It looks like you had a grade 3 concussion. It doesn't appear that you'll have any lasting damage, although you may still feel dizzy for a while, and you might have some trouble remembering things, but you should be okay. If your symptoms last any more than a few weeks, come in again and we'll have to run some more tests."
At that moment, the door opened, admitting Headmistress Flynn and Professor K:anode into the room. The doctor spoke briefly with Alex, then, with a smile and a nod to the room's occupants, left.
"Hi Professor Flynn, Professor K:anode!" Kylie said cheerfully, smiling at the both of them.
"Hello, Kylie and Vixen. The doctor said you're free to go now, Kylie, but you can sit and rest a little while longer if you'd like. Can you walk?" Alex asked. Kylie nodded.
"Yeah, I walked to my last scan. I'm a little dizzy, though," she admitted, her smile fading a little. It brightened again quickly though. "Thank you for helping Vixen take care of me when I got knocked out, Professor K:anode. Sorry your shirt had to get ripped, though." She pointed at what remained of his ripped-off sleeve.

Vix chuckled at Kylie's eruption of laughter. "No problem." Was all he said when she thanked him, although, it was all that was really needed. He listened to what the doctor said and sat silently when Kylie when for her tests. He noted the point of her symptoms persisting, and told himself to keep an eye on those. Something told him Kylie was the type to act alright, even if she entirely wasn't, just to try to keep from worrying everyone. He half waved to Professor Flynn and Professor K:anode, staying silent. When he heard Kylie say she was dizzy he decided he's walk out behind on, on a just in case basis. He looked the headmistress up and down, seeing something in her attitude had clearly changed, and K:anode didn't seem to be fired, unless he was only here to apologize and leave. But something had changed, and it seemed like Professor Flynn didn't look like she was angry at K:anode so Vix assumed everything had went well for the professor.

Upon arriving at the hospital, K:anode tried his best to as much like a shadow as possible. He followed Mrs. Flynn to the room, looked over two, checking to make sure they were okay and would have turned his head to the ground had Kylie not spoken. He looked up and nodded, smiling to be friendly, but said nothing. He listened to the following conversation, and breathed a sigh of relieve that Kylie was okay enough to walk already. From his experiences anyone who could walk and think clearly after a concussion was nearly always okay.
He glanced at the sleeve, almost in surprise. He'd completely forgotten. He shrugged, "...It's nothing. It happens... though I'd hope not again in the near future."He replied, as if trying to be light hearted, but clearly not able. He sighed. "Sorry about that Miss. Jenson... I should have been paying a lot more attention to what was going on. I'll try to make it up to you sometime."

Kylie smiled and waved a hand of dismissal at the professor's apology. "Oh, it's alright Professor. Like you said, this stuff happens. Although I do agree that I'd rather it not happen again any time soon. Besides, it's not like you could've done anything even if you'd spotted the ball sooner. If anyone should've been paying better attention, it was me. In any case, there's really no need to 'make it up to me'. I'm not too badly injured, thanks to Vix." At this point she gave a brilliant smile to the boy sitting nearby.
Alex cleared her throat. "Well, not that these sentiments are touching or anything, but we really ought to be heading back, Miss Jenson, as long as you're ready." The headmistress was all too aware that though the hospital staff had told them that they could stay in the room for a while, they really shouldn't stay there too long. Luckily, Kylie nodded.
"Oh, I'm ready to go now, Professor Flynn," she said cheerfully, carefully standing up and using the chair's arm for balance. The room still seemed to be wobbling a little bit, but she figured that if she followed the wall for the most part, she would be able to walk out of there okay.

Vix chuckled lightly when Kylie smiled at him, and he hid his face as he blushed furiously. The red in his face washed away quickly, and luckily for him. He stood up as Kylie did, putting his arm out to help steady and guide her. "You okay?" He asked, since she seemed a bit shaky when standing. He was frightened that she might fall, and most definitely didn't want that. He wanted to offer to carry her but he knew she'd refuse. He stepped toward the door, putting his arm down, knowing it was a bad idea from the start. He looked down, stepping into the hallway and standing against the wall, letting the others go out in front of him. He figured he'd just trail behind and stay out of the conversation if he could, which he was good at. And this time would be easy, all attention was on Kylie, not him.

K:anode nodded. He'd sort out something anyway. She was being polite. He let Ms. Flynn, Kylie and hesitant Vixen lead the way out of the room, wanting to keep to the background. He wasn't even sure why he came at all. Still, he was glad to see Kylie on her feet already and walking reasonably well. There was a little stumble in her step, but so little he doubted even she noticed it. Still, if he had to try and see some good in it... Kylie and Vix seemed to be all the closer now since the accident. [uuugugh. Just to move us on x____x sorry!]
