.:Accident on Purpose

[Kylie Jenson]

Kylie thought for a moment, considering how far she wanted to go. "Let's see... how about... from the tree the professor's sitting under, to that tree over there." She wasn't completely sure, but by eyeballing it, the distance appeared to be about 100 yards, give or take a few. In any case, it was certainly farther than 20.

She laughed as he pointed out that fairy wings weren't really built for speed. "Oh, I don't know," she said slowly, giving Vixen a wink, "they may not look very speedy, but you have no idea how fast I can go." Kylie was bluffing, of course. She had a quick take off, of course, but going far at fast speeds wasn't really a good idea, since it took a lot of energy to beat her wings that fast, and they were too thin to do much gliding.

Kylie swooped over to the tree and waited for Vixen there, giving the Professor a quick wave as she waited.

[Vix]

Vixen followed her, keeping the same speed as her, not beating his wings half as fast. He smirked. "It's such a shame that you have to move your wings so fast, just to go a few feet." He half chuckled. "I have no idea how fast you can go, and you don't know how fast i can go, so it's fair enough. And by the looks of it, if you beat those wings much faster they'll fly off." He looked down at the professor as she waved. He was supposed to be watching them do flying races, so this shouldn't be much of a problem for them to actually race. Vix turned his attention back to Kylie, then lined himself up so he was directly beside her. "So, what, we go on three? Or do I need to give you a head start?" He asked, still smirking.

Kylie rolled her eyes. "I think my wings are pretty secure on my back, thanks," she stated dryly, laughing a little as she did so. "But I suppose it is pretty fair, since neither of us knows the others' capabilities."

She rolled her eyes again at his jibe. "You can give me a head start if you want," she told him, "but if you do you'll never win. Just to tell you." She laughed again and shook her head, getting rid of the lock of hair that had fallen into her eyes. "No, we'll both just go on go, which will come after three, okay? I'll count. Since you offered the head start anyway, it shouldn't be any problem to you if I get started a second or two before you do, right?"

Laughing, Kylie shook out her arms and got ready to take off. "Ready?" she asked, "One...two...three...go!" And with that, she took off like a shot, trying to use her original burst of speed to her advantage before going that fast became difficult.

[Vix]

Vix smirked, taking off as she yelled go, and easily kept up with her, not even coming close to moving his wings as fast as he could. "Guess it's not very fair to let you push with all you have while I barely try, maybe I'll let you have this one." He called to her, then he looked back to where they were headed. "Or maybe not" He smirked, shooting a bit ahead of her, just enough to get her angry that he was passing her up. He thought she looked pretty cute when she got angry. In a small, I'm-going-to--bite-your-head-off kind of way. He chuckled under his breath, slowing down so they were traveling at the same speed again. He looked over at her, her hair blowing back in the wind, she looked so determined, and beautiful all at once.

Kylie gritted her teeth as Vixen passed her without even appearing to be trying. Her wings were beautiful, it was true, but they weren't much use for fast flying. She had one trick up her sleeve, but it was pretty dangerous, and she really didn't want to risk it on such a silly thing like a race that didn't even matter. But then he slowed down for her.

Kylie hated to be slowed down for, whether it was in the classroom covering hard subjects, walking along the road, or flying. She felt like everyone felt sorry for her, and pity for someone who was perfectly capable was something she just could not stand. Breathing in deeply through her nose, she tried to calm herself, refusing to look at Vixen for even a second as they sped toward the tree. Finally they reached it, and Kylie pulled back so she could talk to him.

"You went easy on me," she accused, eyes narrowed to slits.

[Vix]

Vix tried to look stunned by her accusation. "I would never!" He said, putting his hands up to show his innocence. "It's not like I know I could beat you so I decided I'd let you feel like you actually had a chance against me." He fought back a chuckle. He knew she knew he went easy on her, so he decided why waste time trying to truly convince her. "Okay, maybe I went a little easy on you, but maybe I just wanted to be near you." He pushed his wings back enough to push him forward to her, and he playful pushed her shoulder. Then he pulled back quickly enough so that his wings wouldn't hit her as they came forward. Then he circled her, looking her over. "You know, you are awful cute." He smiled, but he did mean what he'd told her.

[K:anode]

[*posting for the sake of not being utterly dead. Good thing ye went ahead or this would take -forever-]

Staying by the tree, K:anode watched them with only mild interest. He was a little concerned Vix might hit Kylie by accident with his wings, but he seemed to be aware of it himself. Kylie's wings on the other hand were both beautiful and utterly dizzying. After a moment, it seemed they took the option to race after all.
For the sake of being polite he waved when they passed by, though he was cringing because of the dust which was pushed towards him by the current of their wings. It wasn't much though since they were so far above him.

Casually glancing towards the PE teacher he could see she was throughly absorbed in teaching some kids how to pitch. She really seemed to enjoy her job if nothing else. Looking back to the other two it seemed they reached the end of their race. He smirked a little, seeing what exactly was going on there..... He wasn't sure if they had even noticed yet though.

Kylie rolled her eyes at Vixen as he pretended to be innocent. "Yeah, right, and I totally believe you," she joked as he finished. Her eyebrows raised in a 'yeah, that's about right' look when he admitted to going easy on her. She stuck her tongue out at him as he gave her a playful push. She knew it was childish, of course, but he was being that way too, so Kylie felt that gave her the right to be just as childish as he was. "Yeah, well, whatever," she said, not sure what else to reply to the "maybe I just wanted to be near you" jibe.

When Vixen called her cute, it was Kylie's turn to blush, turning a deep red as she looked away from him, absentmindedly twirling a lock of hair around one finger. "Oh, you don't mean that. It's just 'cuz I'm short, anyway," she muttered, loud enough for him to hear, but only barely.

[Okay, so...either they can race again, flirt for another million years, or Kylie can get smoked with the ball in the next post set. I'm running out of stuff for them to do up here in the air ]

[Vix]

Vix chuckled and Kylie turned away. His hand barely brushed her cheek, and he turned her to look at him. "I do mean it, I mean come on, do you know how adorable you are right now?" He said, half laughing as he pushed himself away to keep from hitting Kylie with his wings as the beat just slowly enough to keep him up. He opened his mouth to say something more but he heard someone from down on the field yell "Heads up!" He turned quickly enough to avoid being pelted in the side by a baseball. It had startled him, but he didn't even flinch. Vix swooped down, calling out, "Watch it!" his voice barely showing a hint of anger, but was clearly serious. But by the time he had said anything another ball was sailing through the air, aimed just to the side of where the last one was.

Kylie couldn't help but laugh, albeit rather nervously, when Vixen touched her cheek to turn her face to him, and rolled her eyes at his compliment. "Uh huh. Sure, Vixen. Just 'cuz I'm a short person, I'm automatically cute. It's like being a puppy. I have yet to see a puppy that I didn't think was cute, even if it was really ugly puppy, just 'cuz its ugliness in that tiny body made it cute. It's much harder to look cute if you're taller than most basketball players," she jibed, chuckling. At the sound of someone shouting "Heads up!", Kylie jerked to the side, watching a baseball fly by her. She turned her head to allow her eyes to follow the ball as it fell slowly to the ground, and turned back around just in time to be smacked in the face with another.

The girl issued a wordless cry as stars danced before her eyes. She covered her face with her hands as darkness replaced the stars, and she began to fall.

[K:anode]

After a few minuets, the PE teacher let them play on by themselves while talking to a few other students. Bored, K:anode turned back to the two he was meant to be supervising, wondering what happened to them. The race was only 200 yards back and forth, they should have be back by now. He turned just in time to watch the second ball fly into Kylie's face.
"What the?!"He got to his feet, running to the place. The PE teacher too had turned, though she couldn't yet see what was actually happening.
"Vixen! Get Kylie!"He called, seeing him close by, K:anode knew there was no way he'd be able to catch her before she hit the ground, Vix on the other hand, might.

[Vix]

Vix was still focused on the words he was about to scream at the idiot throwing baseballs up at them when he heard K:anode yelling, he turn around to see Kylie plummeting downward, her hands over her face. He gasped, angling himself downwards, tucking his wings back. He dove down just below Kylie and grabbed her by the underneath of her neck and behind her knees. When he was sure he had a good hold of her, he made for a quick, yet careful landing. After circling around K:anode far enough to get a clear enough stretch to land, he swooped down and got his footing, running across the ground, trying to slow. He stopped just in front of K:anode, and he had to step back for him to see his face, beings Kylie's body was blocking his view.

[K:anode]

K:anode skidded to a halt when Vix caught Kylie, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Is she okay?"He asked, walking over, stepping a little unto his tip toes to see her face, which was was bloodied from the hit. He could only guess that her nose could have been broken, or maybe even teeth lost if it hit her in the mouth. "Geez..."He muttered, "Here, but her down.. I know some first aid."He told Vix, tearing off some of his long black sleeves of his shirt to make some kind of bandage. "Here, figure out where the bleeding is from and hold that over to make it stop." His voice calm, as if this was something quite normal. The PE teacher was drawing closer, a few of the team following her. She'd sent someone else to get the first aid kit, and another to get another teacher.

[Vix]

Vix nodded, and knelt down, gently lying Kylie down on the ground. He took the piece of K:anode's sleeve from him, and held it in one hand, opening Kylie's mouth with another to check for missing teeth. When he was sure all were in tact, he leaned her head up a bit and noticed the blood trickling down her nose. He held her head up with one hand and put the piece of sleeve over his other hand, and pinched her nose shut with it. Vix was panicing on the inside, but remained collected on the outside. His hands were shaking slightly, but it wasn't too noticeable. He looked up at K:anode. "I'm pretty sure she broke her nose..." He said, surprised at himself for managing to keep his voice steady. He'd never been good with emergencies, and this was no exception, other than the fact that he wasn't showing it.

[K:anode]

"What happened?"Asked the PE teacher, who had now caught up with them. She pretty much pushed K:anode right out of the way, knocking him to the ground. "Kylie?! Kylie, are you okay, can you hear me?"She asked, her voice filled with concern as she looked over the girl. "She needs to be taken to the infirmary right away."She said, though she didn't move to make action on it. K:anode got to his feet, saying nothing yet. The woman didn't even notice that he had been there. He looked calm, though his heartbeat was racing.

"What the heck were you doing?!"She suddenly yelled, turning on then now looking terrified professor.
"Sorry?"He replied in a quiet voice, confused and worried.
"You were meant to be supervising them!"She yelled, her voice very loud as she was used to yelling across pitches. K:anode cringed, unsure what to say. She was meant to supervising the kids who hit her with the ball in the first place.
